They walked and walked and sang "Memory Eternal". (1)

Following the sad defeat of Wales by Ireland last weekend, we were cheered to learn that McCarthy's metamorphosis is nearly complete. Yesterday evening saw the opening of Trinity Cocktail Club, which is located on the opposite side of the street to the old bar. Opening hours are noon to midnight, and it has a fine selection of whiskies according to the website, which is carefully strewn with words such as "unique", "elite", and "gourmet". Justine Piluso is executive chef, an alumni of the 2020 edition of French TV show, Top Chef. Details about the Irish Pub are sketchy tho. Last time we checked the beer and food menus were empty, although no doubt Guinness will be included. Check it out on facebook, the Trinity parent and local Monaco websites, phone +377 93 25 87 67, email booking[at]trinity.mc.

As for established restaurants, six of them had to temporarily close recently for breaking Covid regulations, primarily because staff were not wearing masks: Quai des Artistes, Stars n Bars, Saliere, Beef Bar, Avenue 31 and Note Bleue.

Some were overly excited at the beginning of the week by news that Sunday registered just 9 positive Covid cases. But of course few official tests are carried out on Sundays, and since then we're back into double figures.

To take your mind off it, there's another opportunity to flex your artistic muscles. The Forum des Artistes exhibition of work by Monegasques and residents is scheduled for 2-3 July, and a call for entries went out last week.

And finally...

Monday is Valentine's Day. As good an excuse as any, if indeed one were needed, for a slap up meal and a bit of romance. Enjoy!

What's in the diary...
