Rockin' around the Christmas tree (1)

What's new

The cannons boomed, the horns parped and the bells rang yesterday evening to welcome Monaco's new Prince and Princess.  Gabriella Therese Marie and Jacques Honore Rainier made their appearance shortly after 5pm, and we extend our warmest congratulations to the happy parents!

There was good news on Tuesday for Monaco FC, which beat Zenit 2-0, taking top place of UEFA Champions League Group C. The team now goes through to the next round of the competition and finds out who it faces once the draw takes place on 15th December.

Festive preparations are in full swing following the opening of the Christmas Village last Friday. Prince Albert was in attendance and tasted some of the food on offer in stalls. Ingredients for a traditional British celebration can be found this weekend at the British Association of Monaco Christmas fair and at St Paul's Church, where a nativity play and carol service are scheduled. For more ideas, don't forget to check our Christmas in Monaco listing, which now includes suggestions for Christmas meals.

Finally, Monaco Dance Forum begins this week, with international companies, choreographers and dancers treading the boards, including Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Happes Theatre Vertical.

What's in the diary ....

Thursday: Miming clown show.
