What's new

Well, it certainly feels like Christmas now the Christmas Village has opened at Port Hercule. Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended the opening ceremony last weekend, with their children Gabriella and Jacques, who celebrated their third birthdays on Sunday.

One of our favourite places in Monaco, the Princess Grace Irish Library, featured in The Guardian newspaper this week. The article describes some of the rare books that are on display, as well as Princess Grace's own schoolbooks, and the piano that former resident Anthony Burgess used to play. We've been lucky enough to attend some of the events organized at the library, which regularly welcomes Irish writers and entertaining speakers with knowledge of Irish literature.

A new Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, premiered in London on Tuesday evening, and had its first VO screening yesterday morning in Monaco. The movie scores highly on IMDb with both the public and the critics, and if you're a fan, there are two shows at Princess Grace Theatre today, a 3D one this evening and a normal, 2D one later. If you can't make it tonight, there are plenty of other opportunities in the coming days.

And finally, we have more news about Moods (see 16 November newsletter). The Journal de Monaco has announced that SBM has given a 10 year lease for the venue to William Graham Robertson, who is credited with launching Newcastle's party scene in the 1980s, but these days you're more likely to see him out and about in his Roller in Monaco.
