What's new
There are two outstanding VO films on at the cinema this week, both of which received multiple nominations and awards at the 2018 Oscars. 'The Shape of Water' won Best Picture and is described by its director as 'a fairytale for troubled times'. Frances McDormand took away Best Actress for 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' and although some movie-goers will find the language a little fruity, there can be nothing but praise for the acting. Best of all, over three days from 18 to 20 March, the cinema is charging just 4 euros for a ticket.
The Yacht Club's bar-cave Wine Palace has launched a Friday Lunch deal. Three dishes paired with three wines costs 25 euros per person, and you'll probably need to reserve as space is limited.
Monte Carlo Beach Hotel opens for the season tomorrow, with a week to prepare for Elsa restaurant's Earth Hour 5-course menu. The 130 euros price includes a cocktail and an hour of romantic candlelight from 20:30 to 21:30.
Tomorrow is also the start of Printemps des Arts music festival, this year with an American accent. The opening concert features music by Bernstein and Ives, but over the next four weeks there are performances of Mozart too.
And finally, a great big 'thank you' to Bradley at Club Vivanova for a wonderful evening last weekend. If you missed the Luxury Lifestyle Gala there are plenty more events organized in Monaco during the year, including a tequila tasting and dinner at Maja Jah.

(1) This week's quote is a Latin phrase meaning 'and you, Brutus?' It is spoken by Julius Caesar in the Shakespeare play, at the moment of the Roman dictator's assassination on this day, the Ides of March, 44 BCE.
