What's new
Let's get the bad news out of the way first. Two more cancellations have been announced: the Monaco Yacht Show, and the Simple Minds concert. The latter effectually also writes off this year's Sporting Summer Festival. If you've bought tickets to see the Scottish band, contact your ticket agent or phone SBM on +377 98 06 36 36. Simple Minds have rescheduled for July 2021.
Now for the good news. The Cinema des Beaux Arts in Princess Grace Theatre reopened yesterday and the Open Air Cinema's July schedule includes three Quentin Tarantino movies, Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises, Judy (the Garland biopic), and Downton Abbey.
Stars n Bars is putting up bunting and offering a 24 euros plat du jour, lunch or dinner, for American Independence Day. Get into the spirit by donning your blue gingham and ten-gallon hat.
CREM is offering a change of scene for its weekly summer aperitif. Rather than hiding away in the clubhouse, members are invited to gather at the Yacht Club's Wine Palace on Quai Louis II, Wednesday evenings from 18:30.
And finally, Sensais, which fortuitously closed in March for refurbishment, has now opened with a new name: La Table d'Elise. The wall screen has been replaced by a "fresco" of plants, the food is more Mediterranean, and the staff will flambé pancakes for you at your table. Enjoy!
What's in the diary ....
Thursday: CREM debates the pandemic.
Friday: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Saturday: Jurassic World.
Sunday: Irresistible.
Stay safe and enjoy your weekend.
