You'll never make anything of yourself in the hotel business. (1)

Congratulations to chef Richard Rubbini, whose Train Bleu restaurant in Monte Carlo Casino has been named 'best restaurant of the year' at the European Casino Awards in London. The restaurant's name and decor recall the train that used to carry passengers from London and Paris down to the Principality. It serves Italian cuisine, is open Thursday to Sunday evenings only, and in order to access it you have to buy a ticket for the Casino, which will be reimbursed once your bill exceeds 40 euros.

Porsche is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and Monaco's petrolheads can join in. We hear a dozen of the German vehicles are currently on display in the Prince's Car Collection.

If you've not yet visited the Lumiere exhibition on Quai Antoine 1er, note that it ends tomorrow.

Looking ahead, SBM is holding a recruitment day on 1 March, hoping to fill around 900 positions. In April the 12th Salon du Livre takes place in the Grimaldi Forum, and half-price tickets are already available for the summer art exhibition paintings by Monet.

And finally...

Don't forget the kids are back at school on Monday. Hurrah!

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Football.
Friday: Piano recital.
Saturday: MAGIC.
Sunday: Derby.

(1) This week's quote was levelled at an apprentice sommelier on being dismissed from a hotel in Brig, Switzerland. He was hotelier Cesar Ritz, born this day 1850.
