What's new
Blimey, it's hot! What I need is a cold, hand-crafted beer, and someone, somewhere in Monaco, is brewing one. This anonymous amateur was one of ten who took part in the 2nd competition for aspiring brewers, recently organized by the Brasseries Independentes des Alpes Maritimes (BIAM). BIAM also plans to hold a festival in October in Nice's Theatre de Verdure, aiming to make it an annual event.
It's been a couple of months since Komo opened (see 18 Apr 2019 newsletter), and industry expert Laurent Barbie (formerly at Vista Palace, Chateau Chevre d'Or, Metropole Monte Carlo and Cova) has drawn on his network of contacts to establish the kitchen team. Italian Pascuale Pugliesi is chef de cuisine, and Yohan Jara is pastry chef. The lunch carte has 5 starters, 6 mains, and 2 desserts. Phone +377 97 70 56 11 to reserve a table.
Komo also boasts that Mauro Colagreco, the 3-starred chef of the Mirazur in Menton, has signed his name to the food. He must be celebrating at the moment as his place has just been named World's Best Restaurant. The accolade has been awarded annually since 2002, voted for by 1040 restaurateurs, chefs, food writers and foodies.
And finally, it's officially summer because the school summer holidays start tomorrow afternoon. Enjoy!
