With Prince Albert discussing climate change in Glasgow, the British weather has moved over to Monaco!

Entertainment

New commercial enterprises at Plage Larvotto are planning to open next year. For eating there'll be an Italian chain called Big Mamma, a Mexican restaurant named Sexy Tacos, and an as yet unknown Mediterranean "healthy" food place. In addition Costa is opening another bakery, and there's to be an "institut de beaute", and an interior decor shop.

Following the announcement that Ni Box is to be demolished, discussions at a recent town council meeting revealed that the replacement building will include areas for work, socialising, and cultural events. It'll be no higher than the current structure, and will include a rooftop restaurant. There are also plans to improve pedestrian access in the surrounding area.

Sun Casino has been closed for some time, and is unlikely to reopen. SBM, whose agreement with the Fairmont Hotel ends in 2023, has said that there are enough gaming venues in Monaco.

Art & design

The Francis Bacon MB Art Foundation has a new arrangement of rare exhibits. You can visit free of charge but need to phone first for a slot for the guided tour lasting 1h45.

Celebrating the centenary of its parent, the Monaco Ribolzi Gallery currently has an exhibition of six olive trees which have been transformed into sculptures by Uruguayan artist Pablo Atchugarry.

Sotheby's will be auctioning some of designer Karl Lagerfeld's estate in Monaco, 3 to 5 December.

Covid & health

Monaco Matin has found that many restaurants in Nice are not checking diners' health passes, in spite of the continued requirement to show one. As for masks, the Alpes-Maritimes has extended its mandate for covering up in busy outdoor areas to 16 November.

Here in Monaco two Fontvieille restaurants were closed for four days last week. Pizz'Aria and Tre Scalini employees were found to be working without masks on more than one occasion, and the latter's tables were spaced too closely together. More checks are being made at the moment since school holidays have brought an influx of visitors.

Flu vaccines are now available in pharmacies and free for those registered with the Caisses Sociales et du Service des Prestations Medicales de l'Etat (SPME).

And finally...

Don't forget to book your ticket for Club Vivanova's gala on Saturday 13 November, raising money for Chances for Children, Borneo Wildlife Preservation, and Mimosa. Enjoy!
