What's new

Last week the Government announced a further easing of anti-Covid measures. We can now return to our favourite cafe for breakfast, and restaurant dinner service is extended to 22:00. Indoor sports halls can reopen too, subject to health protocols. The current measures remain in place until 16 May and if all goes well there will be further easing from that date. We're all asked to remain vigilant tho', especially when meeting friends and family.

On the subject of restaurants, there's a new chef at SBM's Coya. Victoria Vallenilla Gallardo has spent the past 3 years in the Hermitage Monte Carlo kitchens. She'll be adding Venezuelan and Caribbean flavours to the Peruvian cuisine. +377 98 06 20 20, Wed-Sun, lunch and dinner.

France lifted its strict lockdown on Monday, but only during the day. You can travel with no restrictions from 6:00 to 19:00 but when curfew begins you'll need an attestation.

The E-Prix this weekend goes ahead with similar restrictions to the Historic. As for the F1 Grand Prix, some measures have already been outlined, particularly regarding requirements for PCR tests, but there's no news yet about restaurant access.

In Brief

Last Friday's Journal de Monaco listed more restaurants ordered to close for violating anti-Covid rules: Apero Pizza and La Bionda for 4 days, Haagen Dazs and Club 39 for 7 days.

Nice Airport's summer schedule includes a new Air France service to Heathrow, and British Airways to Southampton.

Simple Minds has cancelled its July concert in Monaco. Contact SBM ticket office for refunds (+377 98 06 41 59, ticketoffice[at]sbm.mc).

Monaco Roca basketball team returned from Russia victorious last weekend after beating Unics Kazan 83-86 in the EuroCup.

And finally...

Several media sites have reported that Monte Carlo SBM's top chefs are taking turns to invite their Michelin-starred peers to work with them in Monaco. First up are Marcel Ravin and Michel Sarran who'll be preparing dinner at the end of May. Further meals are planned for September, October and November, with two in June, on 11th and 12th. Enjoy!
