What's new
Happy New Year! It's two weeks since the last newsletter, and lots has happened since then.
First, the serious stuff. Over the festive period Covid cases have increased, the French curfew has been lengthened by two hours, starting at 18:00, and two performances of Monte Carlo Ballet's Lac had to be cancelled when members of the company tested positive. Five Monaco restaurants were forced to close for ignoring health measures and the Government announced that from 2 January eating out will only be possible if you're a resident or a worker.
The Comite Mixte met on Monday to discuss the situation and have decided to re-close gyms and swimming pools, even tho' more infections have been spread in family gatherings than fitness classes.
Anyone returning to Monaco is urged to get a test (phone +377 92 05 55 00), and there's a campaign encouraging teachers and pupils to have a test too. Workers should tele-work if possible in order to reduce the influx of people into Monaco.
On a more positive note, the first vaccines have been administered.
In brief
Drivers should avoid Port Hercule on Sunday as much of it will be closed to traffic for Dimanche a Velo.

And finally...
The decorations have been taken down and what do you do with the old Christmas tree? Take your needle-dropping pine to one of the collecting points listed on the Mairie's facebook site here: Mairie de Monaco - depose sapin. Then, give the economy a boost by heading to the sales, which started last weekend and run until mid-February. Enjoy!
What's in the diary...
Thursday: Opera arias.
Friday: Bohemia cabaret circus show.
Saturday: War with Grandpa.
Sunday: Tribute concert to Yakov Kreizberg.
