What's new

We've celebrated Monaco's Fete Nationale, and once the Americans finish their Thanksgiving turkey today, it's officially the run-up to Christmas and New Year. Monte Carlo Gastronomie gets things going tomorrow with tastings of all the food and booze you will want to serve. Later in the day the Christmas lights are being turned on, and the International School is hosting its own Christmas market. Check out the maBoum guide to Christmas in Monaco, to which we'll be adding more events as fast as we can.

Metropole Monte Carlo's lobby bar is tempting all chocoholics over the next few weeks with drinks, desserts, cocktails and gastronomic chocolate creations. When you've had enough of the cocoa (is that possible?) Mozza is serving diners a special menu called Tigella on Thursday evenings. The 19 euros formula includes five tigelle, which are thin Italian bread rolls, filled with charcuterie of your choice. Check out Mozza's facebook page for photos.

And finally, we visited Maya Jah for Sunday lunch recently. Suffice it to say that a great deal of care has been taken over the interior decoration. Unfortunately the perfume that shrouds the restaurant and terrace is too strong, making it difficult to really savour the food and wine. There was nothing unexpected about our experience, nothing surprising, nothing exceptional. Beausoleil's Indian Star need not fear the loss of our custom.

What's in the diary ....

Thursday: Joyce songs rediscovered.
Friday: Kids United concert.
Saturday: Jazz.
Sunday: World Rugby Awards.

Coming up next week, dine with the winemakershealthy hour and pocket orchestra.

For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
