Nobu in Monaco

Asian restaurant pops up in Fairmont Monte Carlo.

From 14th May to 9th June, Nobu restaurant takes up residence in the Fairmont's Argentin. Open for lunch and dinner, phone +377 97 70 70 97 to reserve a table.

With more than 25 restaurants around the world, Nobu's owners include Robert de Niro and Japanese sushi chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, whose last name forms the chain's name. A pop-up version of the restaurant is to be installed during Grand Prix in place of the Argentin, and is to include an outdoor terrace overlooking the sea.

Nobuyuki is considered a pioneer of sushi, who helped introduce the Japanese delicacy to the USA. However in some places he's caused controversy by continuing to serve the endangered bluefin tuna in Nobu restaurants. The chef has stated in interviews that serving the fish is not illegal, and if governments were to ban its sale, then he would comply. That's something that he'll have to do in Monaco, which banned the sale in 2009, as part of Prince Albert's efforts to stop international trade of the species in order to protect fast depleting stocks.
