What's new

Cannes Film Festival got off to a rather damp start yesterday. If you're heading down the coast to party with the movie stars, check out Beefbar's pop-up kitchen at Plage 45. Throughout the festival the Monaco restaurant is serving a selection of its signature meat dishes at the beach.

Monaco based International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) will be in Cannes too. On Wed 18 May IEFTA is organizing an all day conference called Refugee Voices in Film in cooperation with the UN Refugee Agency and the Marche du Film. There will be screenings and discussions exploring the depiction of refugees in the entertainment industry.

The Film Festival closes on 22 May, which is also the date of a special screening in Monaco of the Ealing comedy remake Whisky Galore. Tickets cost 20 euros and include a wee dram of the Monaco Blend and some popcorn.

Finally, the Historic Monaco Grand Prix is taking over the Principality for three days from tomorrow. If you want to escape the noise and crowds on Sunday, Monte Carlo Beach's poolside Deck restaurant is open and serving a lunch buffet for 75 euros per person.
