What's new

Novak Djokovic's Eqvita restaurant has now opened to the public. The tennis player and his wife offer diners three promises regarding the dishes: 100% plant based, 100% natural products, and 100% vegan/raw, sugar- gluten- and dairy-free. It's open from 8am to 11pm, in the space vacated by Cosmopolitan. Let us know what you think if you get there before us.

On the same street, construction work is taking place on the plot of closed Mexican restaurant Piedra del Sol. Rumour has it that it will be a new restaurant and bar managed by the hospitality team that previously ran the Hotel Tulip Inn Monaco Terminus. If you've been here as long as us, you might remember the hotel, which was demolished to make way for new apartments built on the old railway line. Its restaurant had a very good reputation and you may recognize the name of its chef, Henri Geraci, who now owns Montgolfiere on the Rock.

And finally, if none of the movies at Monaco Open Air Cinema take your fancy, don't forget that the Meridien Beach Plaza is screening classic films on Tuesday nights. This week we enjoyed Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. Next week it's Sean Connery as Bond in Never Say Never Again. The ticket includes a carton of sweet popcorn and a cocktail, a pair of headphones for the soundtrack and a deckchair on the beach.

What's in the diary ....

Thursday: Dutch underground party.
Friday: Running and jumping.
Saturday: Fight AIDS gala.
Sunday: Palace concert.

Coming up next week, ladies' lunch, club competition, and Bond on the beach.

For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
(1) This week's quote is the first line of the French national anthem, the Marseillaise. We quote it in celebration of French National Day, which is today, 14 July.
