How do you travel around Monaco?

Government launches transport survey today

Monaco's Government wants to know how people get to and from the Principality, and how they travel around once they get here.

Around 114,600 vehicles cross the border into or out of Monaco daily, many of them driven by the 40,000 workers who live elsewhere in the region. Added to this, there are 36,000 residents making journeys around town for work, leisure and shopping. The Government's Direction de la Prospective, de l'Urbanisme et de la Mobilite (DPUM) wants to know more about what methods of transport all these people are using.

Transport is central to Government policy for economic and urban development. With a better understanding of how journeys are made, the DPUM will be able to make the best decisions about new transport links, and to plan better public transport, optimize delivery vehicle access, promote the use of clean vehicles and encourage less polluting journey options.

Consequently, the Government is launching a large, anonymous survey to collect information from all types of users, residents, students, non-resident workers, drivers and public transport users. From today, questionnaires are being mailed to residents and parents of students, which can be returned using a stamped-addressed envelope. HR departments are distributing the survey to non-resident employees. Alternatively you can fill out the questionnaire online at: Enquete de deplacements dans le cadre de l'elaboration du plan de deplacement urbain de Monaco

Drivers and public transport users will find interviewers at several points around town:

  • railway station platforms, 1st and 3rd April, 14:00-20:00
  • major bus stops, 1st and 3rd April, 14:00-19:15
  • points on main roads into Monaco, 1st and 3rd April, 7:00-20:00
boulevard du Jardin Exotique, chemin de la Turbie, avenue de Roqueville, place du Credit Lyonnais, Marquet, and Saint Roman

Once all the data is collected, it will be analysed by Systra and will eventually feed into Government transport strategy and policies.
