Autumn has arrived, which can only mean one thing... Yes, the funfair opens tomorrow at Port Hercule, entertaining all ages every day for four weeks up to National Day (19 November). There are food stalls (no alcohol), trampolines and hair-raising rides. Bag checks in operation.

But that's not all. Here's our round-up of events in Monaco over the next few days.

Art & literature & exhibitions

French speaking book lovers might still be able to reserve a place to hear writer Philippe Besson present his latest novel Ceci n'est pas un fait divers in the Metropole Hotel next Thursday, 26 October. Note that you should rsvp today.

Also in French, the Association Monégasque pour la Connaissance des Arts's (AMCA) first lecture of the season takes place on Monday: Vermeer le poète du réel.

Celebrating its first 10 years of existence, the Fondation Princess Charlene photo exhibition can be seen in the Galerie Pecheurs until the end of October. Images illustrate the foundation's projects: learning to swim, safety in the water, and sport education.

Cinema

Killers of the Flower Moon is new to our screens this week. Directed by Martin Scorses, it featured in this year's Cannes Festival and has garnered rave critical reviews. It's on every day except tomorrow, but beware, it's a whopping 3h26m.

Check the cinema's full program for French movies and the VO of Expend4bles.

Eating & drinking

Members of the Yacht Club celebrate Oktoberfest tomorrow, and on Sunday Izakaya Cozza launches a weekly Japanese brunch. 49 euros buys you a feast of ramen, gyoza, sushis and sweets.

Music

The OPMC pays another symphonic tribute to Rachmaninov on Sunday evening, with a bit of Janacek and Dvorak thrown in. Then on Tuesday there's a musical happy hour with Strauss and Brahms.

Wednesday's live music slot at Note Bleue features saxophonist JB Moundele promoting his most recent album Afrotrane.

Networking

Sadly all the places are taken for tonight's Orangerie Distillerie tasting with the British Association, but there may be a few seats left for the Halloween dinner on 31 October at Petit Bar on the Rock.

If it has to be tonight, check Club Vivanova's whisky dinner at Niwaki, where Japanese and Australian whisky is served.

Sport

The Monte Carlo E-Rally cars will be coming and going during the next three days, with the prize giving ceremony taking place in the Yacht Club on Sunday.

You might have time afterwards to watch the US Grand Prix in the Columbus Hotel.

On Friday Monaco Roca plays Alba Berlin and on Sunday AS Monaco face FC Metz at Stade Louis II.

On Sunday and Monday the Sportel Awards programme offers the chance to meet famous sports stars and to attend the award ceremony.

Coming up soon...

The Mairie has several events planned for Halloween, on 10 November Monaco Ireland Arts Society performs extracts from The Last Burning, and on 18 November Club Vivanova throws a party for good causes.

And finally...

...don't forget, there's lots more to do in Monaco, especially if you speak French. Check out VisitMonaco's website for suggestions.
