You are really stupid if you think a girl can be elected president (1)

We leave summer well and truly behind this weekend when the clocks move back an hour on Saturday night. An extra hour in bed then!

Here's our round-up of events in Monaco over the next few days.

Art & literature & exhibitions

A new art exhibition has opened in the Comité AIAP's space on quai Antoine 1er. It features the work of four artists from Dolceacqua, marking the town's twinning with Monaco. Don't delay, as it closes 3 November.

You might want to make a visit to the Oceanographic Museum's Mission Polaire exhibition before 5 November too. Curators have estimated that at some point before that date, they'll welcome their millionth visitor, and if you're that lucky person you'll get a VIP guided tour and gifts.

This afternoon the Princess Grace Irish Library hosts a lecture about artist Francis Bacon. Speaker Dr Margarita Cappock is an art historian and author of the book Francis Bacon's Studio (2005).

Also today French writer Philippe Besson presents his latest novel, Ceci n'est pas un fait divers, in the Metropole Hotel.

Cinema

Check the cinema's website for screen times of Killers of the Flower Moon and Expend4bles, as well this week's French features.

From Tuesday to Thursday next week the Monaco Streaming Film Festival gathers together industry creatives in Monaco, as well as making the event available through a live streaming platform.

Community & kids

The Mairie is organizing Halloween activities to keep the kids occupied on Tuesday. Don't forget the funfair too, at Port Hercule. School holidays end next week, the day after Toussaint (All Saints' Day) on Wednesday.

Eating & drinking

SBM is organizing another two four-handed dinners, tomorrow and Friday, at the Louis XV. For 900 euros you can experience the culinary creations of local chef Emmanuel Pilon and Amaury Bouhours of the Meurice in Paris, washed down with Dom Pérignon.

Saturday's Monaco Matin featured an interview with Victoria Vallenilla who is rustling up Venezuelan cuisine every lunchtime in Taera, the pop-up restaurant in Hotel de Paris. If you prefer to dine out in the evening, she switches to Peruvian dishes at Coya from 19:00.

Music

It's Grimaldi Forum's monthly Thursday Live Session this evening featuring Calibro 35, an Italian band playing funk, jazz, and indie music.

OPMC's Sunday evening classical concert includes music by Brahms and Stravinsky and features pianist Hélène Grimaud.

Also on Sunday evening, at the Chapelle des Carmes, Catherine Hyvert performs works by Louis Vierne and Monegasque Marc Giacone on the chapel's historic organ.

Dona Flor returns to Monaco for Note Bleue's Wednesday live session. A band of local musicians supports her, performing Brazilian influenced pop, reggae, and French 'chanson'.

Networking

This evening the Mothers of Africa charity is holding a curry evening at the Indian Star restaurant in Beausoleil, and on Tuesday the British Association's Halloween fish and chips dinner takes place at the Petit Bar on the Rock.

Sport

This weekend Monaco Roca basketball team have two matches; versus Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv this evening, and versus Gravelines-Dunkerque on Saturday.

And the Columbus Hotel continues to live-screen the Grand Prix with 'brunch', this weekend at 21:00 from Mexico, with music and food to get you in the mood.

Coming up soon

On 7 November the Institut Audiovisuel is screening Cheri (2002) directed by Stephen Frears, and the No Finish Line annual fundraiser starts on 11 November.

And finally...

...there's lots more to do in Monaco, especially if you speak French. Check out VisitMonaco's website for suggestions.
