Leonardo da Vinci

Da Vinci's Codex Atlanticus

From 2nd to 24th September, the entrance hall of the Grimaldi Forum is hosting a small exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci's sketches and texts. Organized by two local associations, the Dante Alighieri Monaco, and the Monaco Italy Association, it presents a selection of original pages from the first edition of the Codex Atlanticus.

The Codex is a set of da Vinci's drawings and writings, comprising over 1000 pages covering many different subjects. It contains creations and inventions related to flying, weapons, musical instruments, mathematics and more. It's one of the most important collections of da Vinci's writings, kept in the Milan Library, the Biblioteca Ambrosiana. The Monaco exhibition presents a selection of the original pages of the first edition of the Codex Atlanticus, and to complement the drawings and writings, some of da Vinci's creations have been reproduced as models.
