Ni Box open for business

New leisure complex aims to give teens their own space.

The long awaited Ni Box was inaugurated by Prince Albert II on 24th April, and opened to the public the following evening. A leisure complex over 5 floors, it's a place where teens and kids can hang out.

The most important part of the complex for many is the night club with a sea view in the basement. Higher up, there's a bowling alley with 8 lanes and billiards tables. The ground floor reception area has shops, and from there a spiral staircase leads up to an area with video games and a jorkyball pitch. Higher still is a new concept, healthy McDonalds, and an eco-friendly year round ice-skating rink on the roof.

Prices have been kept low since the complex is mostly aimed at students, who can expect a 15% discount on everything. For everyone else, entrance to the disco is 10 euros excluding drinks, bowling is 6.50 euros per person, with shoe rental at 5.90 euros. Table football is 2 euros, billiards 4 euros. But once inside, no money changes hands, since all visitors have to obtain a Ni Card to make payments. The card is a joint charge card and id, with a photo, address, and date of birth of the holder. Two levels of card (brown and black), mean that it's possible to prevent minors buying alcohol and to limit access to the night club after 23:00 to adults only.
