What's new

Monaco hosts the ePrix this weekend and due to private use during the event Stars n Bars is closed to the public up to and including Saturday. Snacks and drinks are still being served on the quayside terrace, including a specially created eCo-cktail. It uses l'Orangerie liqueur (made in Monaco), fresh orange juice, basil and sparkling water, and 1 euro of the 13 euros price is being donated to Monacology Association.

Down at the beach La Note Bleue extends its opening hours to midnight from tomorrow, and La Trattoria in the Sporting d'Ete reopens for the season from today.

A new place has finally taken up residence in the Charles III Gallery, where Bistroquet used to be. Bagatelle Monte Carlo opened last weekend, offering French Mediterranean food at Monaco prices. It's one of a chain, the first of which opened in Manhattan's Meatpacking District in 2008. The brand's French founders, Remi Laba and Aymeric Clemente, are backed by Monaco resident Dmitry Rybolovlev. Other Bagatelle bistros attract celebrities and beautiful people, and no doubt the one here will do the same. Expect good food, loud music, and dancing on the tables. Perhaps a bit of competition for Sass?
