This week we found out that if you walk around Monaco with more than 10,000 euros cash in your pocket, you can be arrested. Something to keep in mind next time you walk out of Monte Carlo Casino with your winnings.
Rules and regulations related to Covid changed last week, with more to come on Monday. Check the Government website for a full listing. Briefly, eight or fewer diners can be seated together in restaurants, with tables at least 1.5m apart. Attendance in theatres is limited to 2000, which means that some events are now sold out. On Monday employees in specific sectors will need a health pass, and isolation periods for those who test positive will change.
Due to the very high number of positive test results, the Government issued a reminder for what to do if you have symptoms. In the first instance you should contact the Covid call centre (+377 92 05 55 00, 7/7, 8:00-20:00) for information on getting a PCR test. If you need medical advice, phone your doctor. Don't go to the Princess Grace Hospital if your symptoms aren't serious. If you have difficulty breathing, phone the emergency services on 18 or 112.
Well, now that's out of the way, in other news, Eric Gorjux has replaced Stefano Brancato as head of Cafe de Paris. Gorjux was previously responsible for Buddha Bar and Coya.
More details have been released about the forthcoming renovation of Cafe de Paris. The brasserie will close in March for about a year. Hotel de Paris's Salle Empire dining room and terrace will temporarily be renamed Cafe de Paris and from February will serve food, noon to 2am, with its own entrance on the corner by the Cartier boutique.
And finally...
Since Monaco business employees are now expected to telework if possible, local restaurants are suffering, especially at lunchtime. It's up to us residents to help them out. Enjoy!
