Love is fish and chips on winter nights (1)
What's new
This week's newsletter celebrates St Valentine's Day. If, like our Liverpudlian's quote, you adore fish and chips, we hear that the Columbus Hotel's restaurant, Tavolo, serves the British staple as a plat du jour every Friday. But whatever the definition of Love Is... for you, we hope you enjoy yourself today!
We were dismayed on Saturday morning to discover that Casa del Caffe is closed for a month for refurbishment. Along with Planet Cafe and Le Regina (now Il Calcio), the Italian bar has served the best coffee in Monaco for over eight years (see 24 Feb 2011 newsletter).
Monaco Restaurant Group (MRG) has opened a new fast food outlet in the premises formerly known as Indochine. It's now called Itagliani and serves "pizza al taglio", or pizza in slices. Bafflingly, the phrase Bunga Bunga is prominently displayed on the takeaway's signs and menus, and the marketing uses a rather lurid shade of pink. Check out Itagliani's facebook page for more information.
And finally, apologies to you all for the difficulties accessing our website over the past week. Unfortunately our host had some major problems, which took several days to sort out.
What's in the diary ....
Thursday: A fairytale ball.
Friday: Green Book.
Saturday: A Medieval tournament.
Sunday: A fund-raising walk.
For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
(1) This week's quote is a line from the poem "Love Is..." by Adrian Henri, one of the English Liverpool poets.
