A gigantic black smokestack... hateful column of bolted sheet metal (1)

Tomorrow schools close for Christmas after class and reopen on Tuesday 3 January. Here at maBoum we're also taking a break for two weeks and will return on Thursday 5 January.

It wasn't so long ago we were worried about the unseasonably warm weather, but winter temperatures are now below what is normal. Since we now need to put the heaters on, Monaco's electricity company has set up a website with advice on how to reduce energy consumption in order to avoid the need for power cuts.

Monaco's Parliament, the Conseil National, had two public meetings last week in which we learned that a working group is considering how to improve Place des Moulins, what problems are involved with renovating Stade Louis II, and that SBM plans to reopen Moods in 2023. Here's hoping!

If you've not bought your Christmas presents yet, Tuesday's Nice Matin had Monaco-themed suggestions. You can't go wrong tho' with chocs from the Chocolaterie de Monaco, booze from the Distillerie de Monaco, a Christmas sweater from Monaco FC, an Automobile Club cap, or the catalog from this summer's Newton, Riviera exhibition.

Get your glad rags on for the Golden Foot awards at 7pm on Wednesday 21 December. If you'd like to attend, tickets cost 250 euros to 390 euros from Monte Carlo Ticket.

And finally...

Thanks to all of you who continue to support maBoum. We hope you have a great Christmas and that 2023 is everything you could wish for. Enjoy!
