There's only one place where a composer can make a name for himself: the theatre. (1)

Blimey! It's the longest day of the year on Monday. Where'd the time go?

Eating out

Now summer's arrived Monte Carlo SBM hopes to improve on last year's results with a new pop-up restaurant in the Hotel de Paris. Michelin-starred Italian chef Andrea Berton will be in residence from 6 July to 22 August, serving lunch and dinner, Tue-Sun, on the ground floor above ave. de Monte Carlo. +377 98 06 39 39.

The Hermitage's Crystal Bar has relocated to the hotel's Excelsior Garden and now serves finger food and sharing platters, drinks and shishas too. Open daily, 15:00-23:00, +377 98 06 98 99.

Events

Did you hear the cheers on Tuesday evening? France beat Germany in the Euro 2021 football competition. Several places are screening the matches on TV, including Bella Vita, Brasserie de Monaco, Slammer's and Stars n Bars.

Tourism

It's been announced that no cruise ships will be visiting Monaco this year. A wise precaution, since one USA based ship reported last week that two passengers had tested positive, despite mandatory vaccinations and prior negative PCR tests.

Community

Which brings us to the Covid situation in Monaco. The Government is urging vigilance as cases increased fourfold last week. Don't forget your mask, keep your distance, and wash your hands.

Restrictions have eased again tho', with restaurants now open to our neighours in the Alpes-Maritimes and Imperia. We can stay out until midnight too, which is good news for bars.

And finally...

The CHPG is short of blood and has been running a donor campaign this week. Today's the last day they're collecting, so if you're aged 18-70, in good health and weigh more than 50 kilos, phone +377 97 98 98 20 this morning to make an appointment. Enjoy!

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Lehmanns Brothers.
Friday: Monte Carlo TV Festival.
Saturday: 7-a-side Olympic rugby.
Sunday:  Wrath of Man.
