Un dimanche apres-midi a l'Ile de la Grande Jatte. (1)

Christmas preparations start in earnest this weekend, with the opening of the Christmas Village and the lighting-up of Casino Square's Christmas tree tomorrow. Monte Carlo SBM is also serving Alain Ducasse's hot chocolate in the Hotel de Paris's patio, and on avenue de Monte Carlo there's a chalet where you can get a taste of the signature dishes of SBM's starred chefs.

Don't forget too that on Saturday it's the annual Christmas Kermesse, and next weekend Ristretto Choir return to St Paul's for the traditional performance of the Messiah.

Eating & Drinking

Following in the footsteps of Brasserie de Monaco and Orangerie de Monaco, the makers of Prince Explorer Gin are hoping to distill a new alcoholic drink in the Principality. Named for Albert 1er, the gin is currently available in the Metropole Hotel, Maya Bay/Jah/Mia, Note Bleue, and Rampoldi.

Covid

The 3rd, booster vaccine is being rolled out as fast as possible, but cases in Monaco are still shockingly high. As a consequence stricter measures were reintroduced last weekend, including:

  • masks mandatory outdoors
  • teleworking recommended
  • no food or drinks to be consumed while standing
  • no dancing or karaoke
  • health pass required for restaurants, theatres & venues

And finally...

Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah carried off the Golden Foot award last week and will have his footprints added to the Champions' Parade.
