What's new
The shops are stocking winter clothes and Carrefour's shelves are filled with exercise books and pencil cases. There may still be two weeks before the kids go back to school, but the summer fair at Port Hercule closes this weekend, heralding an end to the holidays and a return to work.
The Palermo Monte Carlo regatta takes place over the next few days, with yachts setting off from Sicily tomorrow. Crews are due to arrive in the Principality between Sunday and Wednesday next week.
Finally, football is hogging the sports headlines again. Monaco FC faces Valencia at home in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off round next week. The team will have to work hard following last night's 3-1 defeat on Spanish turf.
