What's new

Last Saturday our plans were scuppered, but hopefully not this weekend, because after a couple of weeks back in the office we need a bit of a laugh. Unfortunately it's been three years since Comedy Club Cote d'Azur last made an appearance at Rascasse. Before that, Riviera Comedy Club made us chuckle at Fusion (now StarDeck). So we're ready to give a big round of applause to Vanessa Marcie, native of Nice, self-confessed filter-free funny female, and the Cote d'Azur's most recent impresario. Her British Invasion Comedy Club is based in Cannes, but on Saturday Vanessa takes to the stage along with five members of her comedians' collective, at Jack Monaco, the Port Hercule club with outrageous furniture. If there's a reasonable turn-out, the show will become a quarterly event.

Following Philippe Joannes's departure (see 13 Sep 2018 newsletter), the Fairmont welcomes Didier Anies. It's not his first time in Monaco. Formerly he was chef de cuisine at La Coupole of the Mirabeau Hotel, which is now an apartment building. Most recently he was at the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat.

And finally, the Monaco Better World Forum takes place tomorrow and Saturday. In addition to glamorous galas, dinners and parties, organizers are screening six films that support the event's theme, 'Cinematic Art at the Service of Humanity.' The public is welcome to register for free tickets.
