A tale of Manchester life (1)
Last week SBM Monte Carlo announced that Stephane Valeri of the Conseil National is to take over as its new president in 2023. The company also revealed that the Cafe de Paris's new boutiques should be ready in January, with a summer opening scheduled for the eponymous cafe and the Brazilian style Amazonico restaurant.
If you're planning to travel today you might want to reconsider and visit the Yacht Show instead. There's a general strike in France that will affect transport as well as schools and public services.
Meanwhile Monaco bus company (CAM) is making travel on its vehicles free of charge to everyone from 3 October to 27 November. It hopes to encourage residents and commuters to use buses again after a fall in use due to Covid. In addition it's an opportunity to measure any resulting reduction in car traffic and greenhouse emissions.
You could take advantage of the free ride with a trip to Fontvieille for lunch at Les Perles de Monte-Carlo. It's right at the end of Fontvieille Port jetty and our reporter Cabbie Monaco recently visited. You might not make it tho' if you're tempted by the Italian restaurant Amici Miei (on facebook) which has moved into the premises previously occupied by Gerhard's restaurant. Don't worry, the Austrian's eponymous bar is still serving beer.
And finally...
It's your last chance this weekend to see the outdoor exhibition of Philippe Geluck's Le Chat on the esplanade at Plage Larvotto. Enjoy!
What's in the diary...
Thursday: Yacht Show.
Friday: Coffee & cakes with BAM.
Saturday: Don't worry darling.
