Here at maBoum we're very excited about a big event this weekend, the Monaco e-Prix. There's something happening in London too for which Prince Albert and Princess Charlene have an invitation: the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. British monarchists in Monaco are delaying their do until Monday, when BAM has organized drinks and nibbles in the Novotel's Azzurra Bar from 18:30. Free for members, 5 euros for guests. Monday is also VE Day which the Maison de France usually marks with a private ceremony at 11.30am.

Art & literature

On Wednesday 10 May, former diplomat and Irish literature expert Daniel Mulhall is speaking at Princess Grace Irish Library. His theme is Around the World with W.B. Yeats and James Joyce: a diplomatic odyssey and he'll be supported by actors from Monaco-Ireland Arts Society.

Cinema

For one night only on Tuesday at the Theatre de Varietes, there's a screening of Foreign Intrigue (1956) starring Robert Mitchum, with some scenes shot in Nice and Monaco. The following day you can watch Luc Besson's Le Grand Bleu (1988) outdoors at Monte Carlo Bay. Free-diver Pierre Frolla is attending, tickets cost 65 euros and include food. On general release you can still see Misanthrope, and Dungeons & Dragons, as well as the new, third and final adventure for Guardians of the Galaxy (2023). It's likely to be popular with fans of the franchise and scores relatively well, with 79% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 67% on metacritic.

Eating & Drinking

Beefbar has been named 'best steak restaurant with multiple outlets' by Upper Cut Media House, a British company.

Music

Tomorrow Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and pianist Nelson Goerner are performing Chopin and Liszt. On Sunday there's a symphonic concert, De Sang et d'Or (of blood and gold) with guitars and Spanish, Mexican and Brazilian music, and just over the border in Beausoleil there's a special concert in the garden of the Riviera Palace (facebook). Looking ahead to July, tickets for the summer concerts in the Palace are on general sale from Tuesday.

For something more modern, French DJ and record producer Wax Tailor is on stage at the Leo Ferre Auditorium on Saturday.

Networking

In One-Monte-Carlo, B2B event Metaverse Entertainment World Summit & Awards is reaching its conclusion. Tonight they're raising funds with a gala in the Hermitage. On Saturday and Sunday Monaco Kennel Club's dog show takes place in Fontvieille, and on Wednesday evening Club Vivanova is promoting Gallicus spirits at Nobu.
