What's new

The tourist industry's campaign to attract local visitors (i.e. from Europe) is paying off, with occupation rates in Monaco said to be approaching 40%. Unfortunately the outlook for business tourism remains uncertain, but if travellers do make it as far as Nice Airport, they now have the option to charter a helicopter from Heli Air Monaco or book a scheduled flight with Monacair.

There's been a recent increase in positive Covid-19 tests in the Principality. One infection was imported from a night out in Saint Tropez, and public health inspectors have noted that in Monaco many young people queueing to enter bars stand too close together and don't wear masks. As a consequence we must all now wear a mask when waiting in lines, and it's unlikely that we'll be dancing the night away in Jimmy'z any time soon. Two other cases concern residents who've returned from Africa and Mexico, so we're all being asked to avoid visiting high risk zones.

And finally, spare a thought for the residents of Beirut, which suffered a catastrophic explosion on Tuesday. Monaco's Les Amis du Liban association has launched an urgent appeal and if you'd like to make a donation, information about cheques and bank transfers can be found online at: Les Amis du Liban Monaco - faire un don.
