While friends in Britain are hoping they'll be able to get their Christmas turkey, here in Monaco we're wondering when we can get our hands on a "Winter Meteor!" The mandarine orange, hazelnut praline and meringue confection prepared by ex-chef of La Coupole Nicolas Baygourry, won SBM's festive dessert competition and will eventually be available to takeaway from selected outlets.
Monaco's Marcel Ravin is one of 13 chefs competing in another food competition this weekend. The World Championship of "oeuf en meurette" (poached egg in red wine sauce) is taking place at the Clos de Vougeot south of Dijon.
Business
MonacoTech is searching for new start-ups, especially in greentech, clean-tech, biotech, medtech, fintech, yachting and digital industries. Candidates have until 25 October midnight to submit their applications. Check the monacotech website for more information.
Covid
Last weekend anti-passers in Nice briefly invaded the railway station, but the demonstration was otherwise less eventful that the week before. Throughout the Alpes-Maritimes mask-wearing in densely populated areas has been extended for all ages +11 to 18 October.
At time of writing, here in Monaco masks are still obligatory outdoors. After a week of very low numbers, Tuesday saw a jump in positive tests.
And finally...
Monaco railway station is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a photo exhibition. French photographer Tony Daoulas's has captured images showing the life of the station, on view until 28 October. Enjoy!
