62 recipes for Christmas

Marcel Ravin's culinary journey in print.

Just in time for Christmas, Monaco based chef, Marcel Ravin, has published his French language recipe book. Entitled D'un Rocher a l'Autre - Itineraire d'un Chef (from one rock to another - itinerary of a chef), the tome contains 62 recipes and plenty of colour photographs.

The two rocks of the book's title are Le Diamant in Martinique, and that of Monaco, and the recipes reflect the influences of both places on his cooking style. As a child, Ravin ate dishes from his grand-mother's repertoire, made with produce from the Caribbean. As Chef at Monte Carlo Bay Hotel, Ravin combines the tastes of his youth with products from the Mediterranean. He also acknowledges 9 influential chefs, including Bernard Loiseau, Joel Robuchon and Marc Veyrat.

Published by La Martiniere, both Prince Albert and Alain Ducasse have contributed to the preface. With a cover price of 39 euros, it's sure to be appreciated by foodies. You can also order it from amazon.fr at 37.05 euros with free delivery, but hurry if you want it in time for Christmas.
