It's time to unfurl your flag for Monaco National Day. Celebrations begin tomorrow evening at 8pm with a drone display above the Palace.

On Saturday the Rock is closed to vehicles from 8.30am to 2pm, but in Condamine Market the stall-holders are open for business as usual. A giant stockfish is being prepared for lunch and in the evening there'll be music and local food to eat in or take away.

Also on Saturday the fun fair closes. On Sunday so does Note Bleue (facebook) at Larvotto, but not before Etienne Mbappe's set tonight and tomorrow. The restaurant and music venue is taking a break and reopens 15 December.

Next week Monaco Red Cross (facebook) is organizing a "cleaning day" on Tuesday around Port Hercule. Meet in front of the International School at 10am, with your gloves and bin-bags.

Wednesday sees British prog-rockers Jethro Tull perform a sold-out gig in the Salle Garnier as part of Monte Carlo Jazz Festival. If you didn't get a ticket SBM has engaged musicians to entertain punters in several bars around town: Crystal Bar, American Bar, Blue Gin, and Blue Bay. Check the website for more details.

And finally...

Petit Bar restaurant (facebook) on the Rock is now doing "Saturday Night Specials". Last week it was paella, this week it's morue a la monegasque. Phone +377 97 70 04 97 to reserve. Enjoy!

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Book of Kells.
Friday: Basketball.
Saturday: Black Panther 2.
Sunday: More basketball.
