What's new

Monaco's most famous nightclub reopens tonight. Jimmy'z has completed its transformation and is ready to welcome party animals again. Clubbers can expect to cavort to mixes by big name DJs over summer, including Martin Solveig, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Pierre Marcolini's pop-up ice-cream van is back, serving the most delicious chocolate covered raspberry sorbet lolly I've ever tasted. This year you'll find it on Avenue de Monte Carlo throughout July and August, open daily from 10am to 11pm.

While we're waiting for Maya Jah (see Feb 2 newsletter), a more low key "Indian" restaurant has opened on Boulevard Albert 1er. Indochine serves lunch and dinner, and is a takeaway which also has a few tables. A la carte fast food includes main dishes (9.90 euros), rice (3.50 euros), and Indian beer (6 euros). The "formula naan" prices start from 14.90 euros for main dish, rice, and soft drink. I don't think the cuisine will be as robust as your average British madras, and it'll be hard to beat the curries at Beausoleil's Indian Star. Why? Because it serves Nutella naan bread, surely the most depraved fusion ever conceived. I look forward to being proved wrong when you visit.

And finally, school's out from tomorrow evening, marking the real start of summer. Enjoy!
