What's new
There are some changes in the Principality's hotels taking place this week. The Metropole Monte Carlo's new General Manager, Pierre Ferchaud, takes up his duties on Saturday, and Vincent Borgia, Maitre d'Hotel of Monte Carlo Beach's restaurants, is retiring.
Monaco-based International Emerging Talent Film Association (IEFTA) has set up a Kickstarter project to help Ethiopian filmmaker Hiwot Getaneh produce her short film, New Eyes. You can pledge as little as 10 USD, or as much as 10,000 USD, and in return there are copies of the script, DVDs, invitations to screenings and parties, and a huge, heartfelt Thank You. To find out more, visit the New Eyes Kickstarter Page.
Finally, the program has been finalised for the Monte Carlo Whisky Conference. Prince Albert is attending the opening session, and also the Saint Andrew's Gala, where both he and Princess Charlene wore tartan last year. Fortunately for those whose knees are more knobby than princely, kilts are not obligatory at the Scottish slap-up banquet, which includes pipers and haggis.
