What's new

Ancient Egyptian gold is the subject of this year's Grimaldi Forum summer exhibition, which opens to the public on Saturday. The Cairo Museum has loaned more than 150 items to Monaco, dating from around 2700 BC to 1000 BC. There are funeral masks, sarcophagi and jewellery, displaying the Egyptian royals' love of precious metal and the skill of the smiths who transformed it. In addition, the exhibition hopes to get visitors thinking about how such wealth was used and distributed, and addresses the plundering of artefacts that emptied many of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings.

Back to present-day Monaco, and Hotel Metropole's Odyssey is featuring Catalan cuisine designed by Carme Ruscalleda, the only female chef with seven Michelin stars. If you weren't lucky enough to get a taste at last week's CREM anniversary party, you can visit the poolside restaurant Tue-Sat from 18:30.

And finally, Jimmy'z has moved over to summer opening times, from 23:30 every night until 2 September. The club is also introducing a new afternoon concept called SUN Days, from 15:00 to 19:00 by the lagoon. On Sundays of course.
