What's new
Tomorrow is VE Day, marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War 2. It's a day off for workers in France, where commemorative gatherings will be held at each town's war memorial. Although not a holiday in Monaco, the Principality's post offices will be closed.
We're spoiled for choice with events this weekend. Monaco International Dog Show is featuring Pointer dogs, Monaco Charity Film Festival is screening lots of Russian films, and book festival the Rencontres Litteraires takes well-being as its theme. And let's not forget the first ever Monaco e-Prix that takes place on Saturday - will the cars hiss rather than roar?
Looking ahead a couple of weeks to the F1 Grand Prix, Monte Carlo Whisky Society is holding a special pre-GP tasting of Penderyn Welsh Whisky, and Zelo's has announced that it's hosting the official Ministry of Sound party. We'll be publishing our annual party guide next week.
What's in the diary ....
Thursday: Al Pacino and Russell Crowe.
Friday: Guest DJ at Zelo's.
Saturday: Wine auction.
Sunday: Christening of Prince and Princess.
Coming up next week, kids are back at school, Flavio Briatore talks about F1, and Brits visit the Princess Grace Rose Garden.
For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
