It's a great day for the Irish (1)
What's new
Today is St Patrick's Day, when we celebrate all things Irish. This evening the Irish community of Monaco is partying in McCarthy's Irish pub, and tomorrow the Monaco Ireland Arts Society is staging a show that includes the words and music of great Irish artists. We'll be enjoying a drop of Irish whisky and watching Father Ted.
On Saturday the annual music festival Printemps des Arts begins, focusing primarily on the music of Mahler. Don't forget that it's Earth Hour on Saturday evening, when we're encouraged to turn out the lights and make an effort to reduce our energy consumption.
Finally, this weekend Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and the run up to Easter.
What's in the diary ....
Thursday: Grand Cannon.
Friday: Jazz in the library.
Saturday: Crucifixion music.
Sunday: Operatic Gambler.
Coming up next week, Gallic gastronomy, musical lunch and French comedy.
For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
(1) This week's quote is the title of a song that was a hit for Judy Garland in 1940 and is now considered to be a Saint Patrick's Day anthem.
