Bunnies and Bonnets

Wishing you a Happy Easter, some lovely weather for the long weekend, and one or two delicious chocolate eggs.

What's new?

Monaco's restaurants continue to be spruced up for summer. The Marriott bar and terrace have been transformed, Beefbar is about to re-open and Roxy is soon to have a new manager. Workmen have gutted what used to be Strega, but there's still no sign of life at the old Porte d'Or/Carlito's, and expat favourite Jazz Bar is closed for good, soon to become a Carnet de Vol men's clothes shop. Monaco Restaurant Group's boss recently announced plans to become the 2nd biggest restaurant company in the Principality after SBM. With Beefbar, Mozza, Avenue 31 and Saliere already under his belt, he said a new eatery was planned, but wouldn't divulge the location. We have our suspicions - where do you think the next restaurant in the chain will be?

What's in the diary...

Thursday: 3 by 3 dances.
Friday: wines from down under, dogs at the top.
Saturday: beef and squid on the menu.
Sunday: winning Easter cards, hidden easter eggs.

Coming up next week, relax, chill out, Monday is a holiday!

Featured place

This week we're featuring a place that isn't even open yet: A'Trego. Interior design by Philippe Starck, managed by ex-Jimmy'z Cyrille Regottaz and Corrado Agusta, it's described as "just a fisherman's hut on the water". But don't be fooled, there's a lunchtime terrace, a restaurant with 150 covers, and a nighttime members' bar. The promotional brochure waxes lyrical about the concept, but so far there's very little information regarding chef Laurent Sturbois' menu other than that dishes will be traditional and use fresh, quality ingredients. We'll just have to wait until it opens in May.
