In January, Meteo France recorded one of the warmest but wettest months since records began. We're hoping the sun returns soon.
What's new?
This week we heard that AS Monaco solved the problem posed by French football league requirements to re-locate to France. Owners of the Principality's soccer team offered 50 million euros to the French, in return for being allowed to remain at Stade Louis II. There's no information yet on how the money is to be used, but at least now, players can concentrate on the coming week's games. Sunday sees Monaco, currently in second place in the league, take on leaders Paris Saint Germain, but if you haven't yet bought your tickets, it's too late, as the game is sold out. Next Wednesday, the Reds and Whites visit Nice to battle it out for a place in the next round of the Coupe de France.
We may soon see an additional quality rating for Monaco restaurants. A charter called the Artisan du Gout has been developed by a group of chefs de cuisine working in the Principality, on the initiative of the Association des Industries Hotelieres Monegasques. Measurement criteria include products, services, hygiene, waste, and much more, and establishments will be able to apply for a charter mark after the scheme is launched at the end of March.
Finally, a new restaurant is being inaugurated this evening. Planet Sushi, the chain restaurant that sells Japanese inspired dishes, should be open to the public from tomorrow, and then daily from 11am to 11pm.
