A morning lecture and discussion by Tina Waldeier Bizzarro, followed by a collaborative workshop in the afternoon led by Susan Kelly Vonmedicus. Part of the American Ireland Fund Summer School on the History of Irish Book Illumination of the Golden Age.
- 11:00-12:00, comparison of the Gospel of Saint Willibrord, also known as the Echternach Gospels, with examples of Irish metalwork and Persian manuscripts
- 13:30-16:30, the structure of knot-work, students make a Cross on true vellum using a 3-colour palette based on knot-work found in the Book of Durrow
