Death knell for Monaco's Life Club

Flavio Briatore takes over club lease

According to Monaco Matin, Monaco resident businessman Flavio Briatore, has taken over the lease of Ni Box's night club, Life Club.

Located on the lower ground floor of Ni Box, the venue was initially launched as Ni Club, forming part of the complex that aimed to give young Monegasques, teens and students somewhere of their own. In July 2012, the disco re-opened with a new name, Life Club, and a new manager, Richard Borfiga. Well known in the Principality's clubbing business, Borfiga was previously manager of Kare(ment), which was extremely popular with youths in Monaco and the CdA region.

According to Borfiga, Life Club was making a loss when he was chosen to manage it. Over 18 months he's turned the business around, claiming that out of season, he welcomed 500 to 1000 weekend party-goers, and the same number every night during summer. The ex-manager says he was expecting a successful 2014, and had to cancel 10 party reservations when Life Club closed in February this year.

Owner Patrice Pastor has let the venue to Flavio Briatore, whose other Monaco based businesses include the Billionaire Club and Cipriani restaurant. The Italian businessman is currently having the club refurbished and transforming it into a new concept.
