What's new
"Tra la, it's May, the lusty month of May," as Queen Guinevere sang, and what a gorgeous holiday it was yesterday.
Talking of holidays, we passed through Nice Airport T1 on a short jaunt last week and spotted the newly opened Beefbar Deli, "born in Monte Carlo." It's actually quite difficult to miss, as it stands right next to the non-Schengen passport control. Don't expect grilled steak and mashed potato tho'. This is a fast food outlet, unlike the Fontvieille restaurant. Instead, you can buy mini pizzas and sandwiches filled with charcuterie, most notably cured Kobe beef, air-dried in the Spanish Cecina caves. For travellers on early flights the outlet sells croissants and pastries, and there's also a range of "Made in Monaco" products to take away: Espresso Monte Carlo coffee capsules, Brasserie de Monaco beer, and L'Orangerie liqueur.
What's in the diary ....
Thursday: jazz with Jilly Jackson.
Friday: Enchanted Forest party.
Saturday: dog show.
Sunday: Monaco v St Etienne.
For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
(1) This week's quote is the opinion of Montmorency the dog, relating to the boating holiday described in Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog), by English writer Jerome K Jerome, born this day 1859.
