What's new

Stars n Bars has been working with nutritionists at the Clever Kitchen to develop some new dishes. The menu now includes vegan options, as well as dishes that are meat- gluten- and dairy-free.

If you're not watching your diet, check out Laduree's temporary summer terrace in front of the Opera House. It's open until 6 September, from 10am daily, serving cakes, ice-creams and the luxury sweet-maker's signature macaroons.

Meridien Beach Plaza is also selling special treats during the holidays. The hotel's chef patissier has created two eclairs inspired by the Grimaldi Forum's Russian Avant-Garde art exhibition. You can buy the pastries for 8 euros from the Longitude 7/26 bar, to eat in or take away.

And finally, Monte Carlo or Bust Charity Rally sets off tomorrow from Saint Quentin. The old bangers are expected to arrive in Monaco on Sunday, and one team is carrying a special bottle of whisky for Prince Albert. Let's hope they drive carefully.

(1) This week's quote is a line from the film Young Man of Manhattan, spoken by Ginger Rogers, born this day 1911. A popular catchphrase of the day, it helped establish her name before she became known as the dance partner of Fred Astair.
