What's new

Monaco is soon to have its own Cova Cafe, the Milanese coffee and pastry shop brand controlled by LVMH. The project is being pushed through by Italian businessman Flavio Briatore, who has already imported his Cipriani restaurant, Billionaire and Twiga Clubs to the Principality. A spring 2017 opening is planned on Boulevard des Moulins in the premises vacated by the Maison Mullot cafe.

New managers have been installed at Truffle Gourmet in Condamine Market Hall. The outlet serves Italian dishes, pizza, pasta and wines to diners, either at the counter or on shared tables in the centre of the hall.

Sebastien Gandon, the maitre d of Eqvita (previously Cosmopolitan) has taken first place in a professional competition that involved several practical and written tests. The contest was organized by the Association des Maitres d'Hotel de Monaco (AMIRA) as a fringe event to last week's Chefs World Summit.

And finally, next week there's an artistic tribute to former Minister of State Michel Roger, who was forced to step down last year due to ill health. The homage takes the form of an exhibition of portraits of the former minister.

What's in the diary ....

Thursday: Nativity trail opens.
Friday: Italian Baroque Christmas.
Saturday: Hallelujah! for Handel.
Sunday: Run for Christmas.

Coming up next week, a German tenor, a vegan Christmas workshop, and several designer Christmas trees.

For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
